Stock Transfer – Stock Journal Vouchers in Tally Prime

Stock transfer refers to the process of transferring stock from one location to another, such as from one warehouse to another or from one branch to another. In Tally Prime, you can use Stock Journal vouchers to record stock transfers.

Here's how you can create a Stock Journal voucher for stock transfer in Tally Prime:

1. Go to the Gateway of Tally and select Stock Journal from the Transactions menu.
2. In the Stock Journal voucher screen, select the source and destination locations in the Transfer Type field.
3. In the Item Allocation section, select the stock item you want to transfer and enter the quantity and rate.
4. If you want to transfer the entire quantity of the stock item, you can simply leave the Quantity field blank.
5. If you want to transfer stock from multiple locations, you can create separate item allocation rows for each location.
6. Once you have entered all the details, verify the voucher and press Ctrl + A to save the Stock Journal voucher.

You can also use the Stock Journal voucher for other stock adjustments, such as for recording the opening stock, writing off stock, or adjusting stock quantities.

It is important to note that when you create a Stock Journal voucher, the stock item is not treated as a sale or purchase, and hence, it does not affect the accounting books. However, it is essential to update the stock registers and ledgers to keep track of the stock transfers and adjust stock quantities in the accounting books.
