Forecast Formula in MS Excel

 Forecast Formula in MS Excel

The FORECAST formula in Microsoft Excel predicts a future value based on historical data. It uses a simple linear regression to calculate the future value.

The syntax for the FORECAST formula is:

=FORECAST(x, known_y's, known_x's)

where:

x = the independent value you want to predict
known_y's = the range of cells that contain the dependent values
known_x's = the range of cells that contain the independent values

Here's an example of using the FORECAST formula:

=FORECAST(5, A2:A7, B2:B7)

This will return the predicted value for x = 5 based on the historical data in the ranges A2:A7 and B2:B7. The historical data should represent the relationship between the dependent and independent values.

Note: The FORECAST formula is only suitable for simple linear regression and may not provide accurate results for complex relationships between the independent and dependent values.
