Computer Parts Introduction
There are several main parts of a computer, each with their own specific function.- Central Processing Unit (CPU): The brain of the computer, responsible for executing instructions and processing data.
- Memory (RAM): Temporary storage for data that the CPU uses while the computer is running.
- Hard Drive (HDD or SSD): Long-term storage for the computer's operating system, programs, and files.
- Motherboard: The main circuit board that connects all the internal parts of the computer.
- Power Supply Unit (PSU): Converts AC power from an outlet into DC power for the computer's internal components.
- Expansion Slots: Allow additional hardware, such as a graphics card, to be added to the computer.
- Input/Output (I/O) Ports: Allow the computer to communicate with external devices, such as a mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
- Cooling System: Keep the computer from overheating and damaging the internal components.
These are the major parts of a computer, however, depending on the type of computer, there may be more or less parts and functions.
