Footnotes and endnotes in Microsoft Word provide a way to add additional information or commentary to a document. Here's how to add footnotes and endnotes:
Footnotes:
- Position the cursor where you want to add the footnote
- Click the "References" tab on the ribbon
- Click the "Insert Footnote" button in the "Footnotes" group
- Word will insert a reference number in the text and take you to the bottom of the page where you can enter your footnote text
- Type the footnote text
- Repeat the process for each additional footnote
Endnotes:
- Position the cursor where you want to add the endnote
- Click the "References" tab on the ribbon
- Click the "Insert Endnote" button in the "Footnotes" group
- Word will insert a reference number in the text and create a section for endnotes at the end of the document
- Type the endnote text
- Repeat the process for each additional endnote
